Barcelona Beaches: Nova Icària Beach

The almost half a kilometer-long Nova Icária Beach, located between Bogatell and Barceloneta beaches is considered to be one of the city’s quietest beaches and is mainly frequented by families with children and groups of friends.

Located close to the Olympic Port it is surrounded by a large variety of bars and restaurants.

This beach is well equipped for sports such as a ping-pong table next to the Bogatell breakwater and two volleyball courts near the Olympic Port. It also has a children’s play area.

Nova Icària Beach has a bathing assistance service for the disabled, enabling people with reduced mobility to get in and out of the water using an amphibian bathing chair if necessary.

Other facilities include wooden walkways across the sand to the shore, a sit-down shower, an adapted changing room and lift.

Trained volunteers are on hand to help and accompany disabled users whilst bathing. This service is available every weekend and bank holiday during the months of June and the second fortnight of September and every day during the months of July and August and the first two weeks in September, from 11 am to 2 pm and from 4 pm to 7 pm. These services operate with a green flag signal depending on whether bathing is safe.

The beach can be easily reached by metro, bus, tram and bike.
