Description
Depart from Barcelona and travel in air-conditioned comfort to the sacred mountain and monastery of Montserrat. Upon arrival, visit the monastery of Santa Maria de Montserrat and see the Black Madonna wooden carving from the 12th-century known as La Moreneta (The Dark One). Ascend to the middle of the mountain range, and enjoy panoramic views as you ride aboard the St. Joan funicular railway. Then, strap on your walking boots and brave the hike to the summit. Stop to rest when you reach the shrine and enjoy a picnic lunch at a picturesque spot in the countryside. Escape the crowds and discover a little-known area to look for Spanish wild goats and other wildlife in their natural environment. Return back down the mountain and pass more shrines before heading back to the monastery for the return trip to Barcelona.Includes
