We will meet at the indicated time in front of Barcelona's Arc de Triomphe and kick off an itinerary that will take us on a discovery of the history of the Catalan capital. Let our free tour begin! In 1888 the Barcelona Expo was held, an event that marked a before and after in the Catalan capital. The Arc de Triomphe, in fact, was built precisely as the main entrance to the exposition! Once here, we will enter the Citadel gardens, where we will be greeted by greenhouses of exotic and tropical plants. Next, we will contemplate the Monumental Waterfall, a monument designed by architect Josep Fontserè, and stop by the Parliament of Catalonia, the perfect place to learn about the political, military and historical importance of Barcelona. We will then leave the park behind to explore one of the city's oldest train stations still in operation, França Station. Next, we will explore the Barceloneta district, where the city merges with the Mediterranean Sea. We will talk about the importance of maritime activity to the city as we contemplate the old fishermen's dwellings in the area. We will also see how this area, once an industrial area has transformed over time to become one of Barcelona's most popular tourist spots, especially after the 1992 Olympic Games. Finally, after a total of two hours of free touring, we will say goodbye in front of the beautiful view of Barceloneta beach.
