Description
After a 50-minute drive from Barcelona, we first visit the Benedictine Abbey, built in the 11th century and home to Catalonia’s patron saint, the Black Madonna, a strong symbol of spirituality and unity for local people.
After, we hike up to the top, from where we enjoy the stunning views from the Natural Park of Montserrat and the rest of Catalonia from a bird´s eye view. The Mediterranean Sea, the country’s main valley, and the Pyrenees, which form the border with France, are visible in the distance.
During the hike we will walk on the same paths used by pilgrims hundreds of years ago, we will get inspired by Montserrat’s fascinating flora and fauna and we will experience unique ways where rocky pillars and ravines show us how inner mysterious water emerge from the hidden and undiscovered very center of the massif.
Back down in the Monastery area, we have some free time where you can browse amongst regional products in the local farmer’s market before we head back to Barcelona.
