Description
Join a professional chef for a guided tour of Mercat de Sant Josep de la Boqueria, Barcelona’s oldest food market, dating back to the 13th century. Discover fresh seafood and the fundamentals of Spanish and Catalan cuisine as the chef selects ingredients for an authentic seafood paella (paella de marisco).
Walk through the winding streets of the Old Town, located next to Las Ramblas. Enter a private dining room adjacent to a large open kitchen, where the chef will demonstrate the preparation of the paella de marisco.
Start with traditional Spanish tapas. Learn to make pan con tomate, a classic Catalan tapa, and assemble Basque pintxos or montaditos using toothpicks. Enjoy your creations paired with freshly prepared sangria.
While you eat, the chef will cook the paella in a traditional round, shallow paellera pan in the open kitchen. Learn about the dish’s history, ingredients, and cooking process as the paella simmers.
Then, move to the bar area for a sangria mixing class. Understand the origins of sangria, a famous Iberian wine punch, and try making your own.
Once the paella is ready, return to the dining table to enjoy the meal alongside your homemade sangria.
