Begin in the heart of the Gothic Quarter, where you'll learn about the foundation of Barcelona by the Roman Empire, and wander through its narrow medieval streets, admiring the stunning Barcelona Cathedral and the remnants of the Roman wall.
Next, head to El Born and its narrow streets, stopping at Santa Maria del Mar, a magnificent example of Catalan Gothic architecture from the 14th century. Nearby, make a second stop to enjoy delicious Spanish delicatessen food, including a craft beer if you like.
Continue the stroll past the more recent area of La Barceloneta, the old fishing neighborhood that was reinvented for the 1992 Olympics.
