Step into Barcelona’s world of Modernism and become a real Modernism Detective!
This fun and interactive experience is designed especially for families with children, turning a sightseeing tour into an exciting adventure. Instead of simply looking at beautiful buildings, children will become detectives, solve clues and discover the hidden stories, symbols and details that make Barcelona’s Modernist architecture so special.
Together, we’ll explore the famous Block of Discord, home to some of Barcelona’s most spectacular Modernist buildings. Discover Casa Batlló, designed by Antoni Gaudí, and look for dragons, flowers, Saint George and other surprising details inspired by nature. Then compare it with Casa Amatller and discover how different architects created completely different styles side by side.
Our detective mission continues at Casa Lleó i Morera, where children will search for hidden references to inventions such as the telephone, photography, electricity and the phonograph.
Then it’s time to look beyond the buildings! Follow the clues through the streets and discover how Modernist designers transformed everyday objects into beautiful works of art.
Our final architectural challenge takes us to the spectacular Palau de la Música Catalana, where we’ll search for colourful mosaics, roses, glass details, the Catalan flag and Saint George.
But the adventure doesn’t end there…
Become a Modernist Artist!
After solving the mysteries, children will get to create their own ceramic trencadís artwork inspired by the colourful mosaics of Barcelona.
And the best part? They get to take their creation home!
They will make a beautiful ceramic photo frame to keep as a unique souvenir of Barcelona — something they have designed and created themselves, rather than a souvenir bought in a shop.
It’s the perfect way to remember their Barcelona adventure: a little piece of Modernist art made with their own hands.
