Description

Barcelona is filled with historical, artistic and architectural wonders, spanning from the city’s foundation by the Romans, through the Gothic Middle Ages, to the birth of Catalan Modernism. On this walking tour you will discover the best things to do in Barcelona, its top attractions and culture. Join us on a history-filled adventure in the heart of Catalonia! This 2-hour Barcelona Walking Tour is an essential experience of the city’s unique blend of tradition and innovation, from ancient Roman walls to contemporary cultural hotspots, showcasing its rich tapestry of history and modernity. We begin our adventure on La Rambla, a lively street known for its monuments, markets, and human performers. We’ll see the Guell Palace, one of the early examples of Antoni Gaudi’s surreal designs, and we’ll go deep into the maze of narrow, winding streets of the Gothic Quarter. We’ll pass the palm tree-lined Plaça Reial and pause at Plaça de Sant Jaume to admire the town hall and the Palau de la Generalitat. We’ll walk under the Bishop’s Bridge and wander around the ancient Roman walls, towers and aqueducts that surround the majestic Cathedral of Barcelona. Next, we’ll catch a glimpse of the neoclassical buildings of Via Laietana, and head to the Basilica of Santa Maria del Mar, which is the only surviving church in the pure Catalan Gothic style. We’ll pass El Born Center for Culture and Memory - a restored former market with excavated city ruins from the 1700s on display. The tour will end in the wonderful Ciutadella Park, a 1800s public park with water features, tress and many monuments.
